General
Q: What is the lead time in between me sending you my products and ProductPics returning my product images?
We can typically turn orders around within 3-working days. If you need something more urgently, please contact us to discuss arrangements.
Q: Can I see some examples of your 360° rotating product images?
Yes. We have included a number of examples on our Examples page.
Q: Are there any types of products that aren't suitable for a 360° rotating image?
Not really, although products that are all (or predominantly) white in colour are difficult to work with as we shoot your products against a white background. In this instance, it can be difficult for your website visitor to see the edge of your product properly when it's viewed against a background that's similar in colour.
Note: there is also a size restriction on products that we can work with.
Q: How long will it take for my website to load my 360° rotating product image?
It's impossible to give an exact answer, as this depends on:
- the size of the rotating product image
- the number of rotating product images that you have on the same page
- the speed of the web server on which your website resides
- the speed of the connection between your web server and the Internet
- the speed of your website visitor's Internet connection
Q: Are my products insured while they are in your possession?
While we are working with your products to produce your images, those products are insured under our general office insurance up to a value of £1,000. Your products are not insured while they are in transit to / from our offices, so please ensure that you / your couriers have suitable insurance in place to cover transportation.
Q: Are all 360° images produced to the same level of quality?
No. The "quality" of your image is determined by the number of different images we include in a single 360° rotation. With more images, your product rotates that much more smoothly.
You can choose from 3 different quality levels:
| Quality | Images per Rotation |
|---|---|
| Basic | 16 |
| Standard | 36 |
| Super | 72 |
The quality of each image (e.g. its sharpness, focus, colour, lighting etc.) is the same, regardless of which of the 3 quality levels you choose.
Pricing & Ordering
Q: What do you charge for returning my products to me after you have produced the product photos?
If you arrange to have your product collected from our offices, either in person or by courier, there's no charge. If you want us to arrange courier delivery of your products to your premises, we simply pass the courier cost on to you.
Q: What is the price for a 360° rotating product image?
The exact price depends on a few factors and is also influecned by the number of images you order. Please see our online quote page for a free, instant online quote.
Q: Do I have to pay for the return of my products after you have produced my 360° rotating product images?
No. If your products are very low value and the cost of returning them to you by courier is greater than their value, we can dispose of your products for you.
Q: Do you offer discounts for large orders?
Yes. Our discount structure is automatically built into our online quote page, so please create an instant quote for your product images to see how the unit price varies with the size of your order.
Q: Do you offer a Reseller scheme for website designers?
For website designers, graphic designers and agencies, we offer different Reseller Schemes which provide you with an additional revenue stream based on the 360° rotating product images you order from ProductPics.
Q: Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. If you want just one 360° rotating product image, you can order just one! There is no minimum order quantity.
Q: How do you supply my product images once I've placed an order?
We supply all images on CD. If you need your images in a hurry, we can also send them to you by email or file transfer.
Q: Do you accept payments by credit card?
Yes. We accept all credit / debit card payments.
Q: Are your prices liable to VAT?
For customers in the UK, all orders are subject to VAT at the standard rate.
For business customers within the EC with a valid VAT number, you will not be charged VAT if you supply your VAT number when placing an order.
For other overseas customers, you will not be charged VAT.
Q: When do I pay for my order?
A non-refundable deposit is payable when you place your order. The balance is due when we have completed (and you have approved) your product images.
Q: Will you send me a VAT invoice for my order?
Yes. A VAT invoice is sent with the CD that contains your product images when you order is complete.
Q: Who owns the copyright on the product images that I order from ProductPics?
You (the client) own the copyright on any product images we produce for you. We retain the Intellectual Property in the processes, techniques and technology used in the creation of your images. We also retain the right to display your product images on our website as a way of demonstrating our work.
Technical
Q: Is there a size limit on the products that ProductPics can work with?
Yes. We can work with any products that are smaller than 30" in width, height and depth.
Q: Are all product images produced on a white background?
Yes.
Q: Are all product images produced to standard dimensions?
No. We can produce your product images to suit your size requirements, whatever they may be. Please specify the width / height that you require when you place an order. Bear in mind that larger images will result in a Flash file that uses more file space and, therefore, takes a little longer to download.
Q: Can my product images include a watermark, such as my company logo?
Yes. We can add an graphic on top of your rotating product image. This is usually (but doesn't have to be) a company logo.
Q: Do my 360° images have to open in a popup window?
No. We do this on our site so that we don't have to load many 360° images on the same page but there's no technical requirement for you to load your images in a popup window.
Q: Do your 360° images require any special JavaScript code to be added to my website?
No. Beyond the Flash file that you receive from us, there is no additional code (JavaScript or anything else) that you will need to add to your website to show your images. Many website designers use JavaScript code as a way of inserting a Flash file into a web page, but this is just a general point about Flash and JavaScript, not something specific to ProductPics' images.
Q: Do my 360° images have to rotate clockwise by default?
No. By default, when your 360° image first loads, the product will rotate once in a clockwise direction. If you prefer for the product to rotate anti-clockwise (or not rotate at all), please specify when you place your order.
Q: Do your rotating product images work in all Internet browsers?
Yes. As long as that browser supports Flash (and 98% of all Internet browsers do), then the browser will be able to show your 360° rotating product images.
Q: At what resolution do you produce static images?
All static images are supplied as 600-dpi JPG files, which are suitable for professional printing.
Flash
Q: What version of Flash player do I need to be able to view my rotating product images?
You will need version 6 or above.
Q: What will a website visitor see when they look at my 360° images if they don't have Flash installed on their computer?
If the visitor does not have Flash installed, they will not be able to see your images. However, what they will see depends on how you / your website designer has set up the 360° images on your website. You could set up your website so that the Flash-less visitors sees:
- nothing
- a static image of the same product
- some information suggesting that they download Flash (for free) so they can interact fully with your website
Q: How many Internet users have the Flash player installed on their computer?
According to Abobe, 99% of Internet users have Flash enabled on their computer.
